A well-informed political source commented on the army armament and the international offers to sell arms to Lebanon saying, "The most important thing is to provide the funds so that Lebanon would be capable of arming its army by itself. Afterwards, there should be political agreement."

In an interview with Al Diyar news paper, the source indicated, "Until that time, Lebanon would have received offers from various countries for good prices," emphasizing, "The importance of remembering the army's need of aerial, maritime, and land defense systems, capable of preventing the continuous aerial, maritime, and land "Israeli" violations that are clear violations of resolution 1701".

The source pointed out, "Taking a political decision regarding strengthening the Lebanese army and arming it could positively affect the internal situation".

As for the military US aid to the Lebanese army, the source considered that the countries presenting aids to the Lebanese army would continue their supplies as long as this decision is in their favor. The political source said that it is important for Lebanon to depend on itself in financing so that it would be able to reject these conditional financial aid grants, even if they were not publicly announced.

The source indicated that it is important to specify the goal of using these weapons, as Lebanon wants to prevent aggression and violations, not to launch a war against "Israel"; especially that everyone knows how advanced the weapons "Israel" uses in attacking Lebanon are, and this is what should be mentioned in the Lebanese defense strategy.

"The title "Defense" is enough for countries that would be selling us weapons to understand that we don't intend to launch a war, the Lebanese army rather wants to defend its country, people, land, and unity", the political sources further added.
