Former Lebanese PMs, Parliament Speaker Response to Sayyed Nasrallah’s Conference
After Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's press conference on Monday in which he uncovered documents that should change the track of PM Rafik Hariri's assassination case, and include the "Israeli" involvement assumption in the investigation, various official responses came out.
Former Lebanese PMs and Parliament Speaker Nabil Berri, each had a media statement supporting, admiring, or welcoming the press conference and its content.
Former PM Salim Hoss considered that Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's press conference was rich with information that has its evidences, and was successful in confirming the inadmissibility of ignoring, neglecting, or excluding any investigation on the possibility that "Israel" is responsible of assassinating PM Rafik Hariri.
In a conference he held, Hoss assured, "Such neglect is weird and suspicious, as "Israel" is the benefiter of Sabotage in Lebanon and the region."
He added, "The press conference, with its objectivity and steadiness, will have an important affect on keeping away incitements fabricated for our country."
Hoss pointed out that, "those in charge of investigating in this important crime will not underestimate accusations after the adequate proposal in the press conference."
In parallel, Former PM Omar Karameh told As-Safir newspaper that as always, Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was honest, realistic, and rational. However, he excluded any possibility that the international tribunal would respond to what he has presented, because what America and "Israel" say about the tribunal is what will be applied.
Former PM Najib Mikati pointed out that the information Sayyed Nasrallah presented were accurate and important, and should not be passed over.
Mikati considered that PM Saad Hariri should take into consideration what Sayyed Nasrallah presented, and submit it to experts to study it.
On its part, the Future Parliamentary bloc, headed by Former PM Fouad Seniora, said after its weekly meeting that it "welcomes every effort that contributes in presenting data or evidences that would lead to detecting criminals."
The bloc considered that, "the international tribunal is entitled to investigate and follow up evidences."
"All the information, and the available documents, including what Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah presented and the analysis should be in hands of the international prosecutor," it added.
On his part, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri told As-Safir Newspaper that this press conference changed the situation, calling on the Lebanese authorities to take practical actions regarding what Sayyed Nasrallah revealed.
Berri said, "The case after the conference differs from the case before the conference was held."
