General Qahwaji: Army will not Give Up Its Basic Role in Defending the Country’s Borders and Confronting ’’Israel’’
Lebanese Army Chief General Jean Qahwaji greeted the spirits of soldiers and civilians who martyred during the clashes with the "Israeli" enemy in South Lebanon on Tuesday.
General Qahwaji reassured that, "The army that stayed firm during the harshest times Lebanon passed through, acting as the safe shelter and rescue for everyone, will not give up any of its basic roles in defending the country's borders and confronting the "Israeli" enemy with all available means."
"The enemy's developed military arsenal and its increasing threats against Lebanon will not intimidate the army or affect its determination to stand firmly and confront it," he pointed out.
In a ceremony commemorating retired officers, General Qahwaji said, "The Army's holiday comes this year, while your colleagues stationed on the country's borders in the South, determined to embody its meaning with blood of martyrdom. They reassured once again their loyalty to the oath and commitment to duty no matter how big the sacrifices are. All this was in the courageous confrontation with the "Israeli" enemy, which evidently proved that any assault on any part of the Lebanese lands is in the military organization's ideology and principles an assault against the whole country."
General Qahwaji emphasized on the persistence in following spy and treason networks until eliminating them, pointing out the "intolerance with any spy no matter what side or organization he belongs to."
In conclusion, Qahwaji congratulated the retired officers on this holiday, and called upon them to stay supportive to their organization and be firm soldiers on the country's ground.
