US Army soldier Bradley Manning accused of leaking top military secrets to a whistle-blower website, has been moved from Kuwait to a military jail in the state of Virginia.

According to sources, he is to remain in Quantico Marine Base until his trial on charges he gave the controversial video of a fatal helicopter strike in Iraq to WikiLeaks.

The "Collateral Murder" video shows a US military Apache helicopter killing two Reuters journalists and over a dozen Iraqi civilians in 2007 in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The 22-year-old now faces upwards of 50 years in prison for "mishandling" classified documents.

Manning\'s transfer follows a recent leak of up to 92,000 classified documents on the US-led war in Afghanistan to the same website.

The Pentagon has declined to name any suspects over the leak, but has dubbed Manning as a "person of interest" in its investigations.

According to US war officials, the person behind the leak appears to have "secret" clearance and access to sensitive documents on the Afghan war.

This means that more leaks are possible in the future, officials have acknowledged.

The White House has angrily condemned the leaks, which are considered as one of the largest security breaches in US military history.

Meanwhile, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assanges has dismissed the accusations as baseless.
He has also argued that the US wants to stop the leak because the secret war files show a systematic pattern of criminal behaviors by the US military forces.

Assanges says an official probe may reveal that war crimes have been committed by the US military in Afghanistan.

He has also pledged to continue document releases. "We will not be suppressed," he said. "We will continue to expose abuses by this administration and others."
