As-Safir Lebanese newspaper mentioned that a meeting in Tibnine's sarail will take place in the presence of UNIFIL commanders, after an invitation from the Lebanese army. The meeting will occur on the framework of reconstructing the relations between the people and the UNIFIL.

Informed sources clarified that the international attendance would be represented by the French troops, considering that the French troops were the prominent side in the problems occurring with the civilians.

It is expected that the agreement would be based on a clear and specific ways of coordination with the UNIFIL regarding their activities inside the villages.

Although Lebanon seeks a total agreement between both sides, it seems that France insists on discussing the last incident in the UN Security Council, where a private meeting will be held tomorrow, as France requested.

The French UNIFIL troops' spokesperson, told As-Safir that his country would have liked to conduct the meeting today, but the Lebanese envoy to the UN requested a delay in the meeting until Friday, in order to wait for the results of the Lebanese Government's meeting.

The Lebanese envoy to the UN also that the France's insistence on conducting a meeting to discuss recent confrontations in South Lebanon, and not waiting until next Wednesday, clearly reveals its concern regarding the repeated accidents.

The French spokesperson clarified that his country wants the Security Council to confirm the UNIFIL troops' freedom in their working zone, abiding by resolution 1701, without any previous permission from any side, in reference to the Lebanese army.

In this context, Lebanon's envoy to the UN, and impermanent member of the Security Council, Nawwaf Salam, referred that the French expressed their intention to meet on Friday.

In an interview with As-Safir newspaper, Salam said that Lebanon abides by the rules of engagement as agreed upon by both parts.

The implementation of resolution 1701 is a great matter, for if all parts abide by it, then sovereignty and stability in Lebanon are more likely to be achieved.
