As this was not the first time the UN Security Council votes for imposing sanctions against Iran for its nuclear program, also Iran's response to such a decision was not new.

In response to the Security Council's decision to approve the US-drafted sanctions against Iran, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad assured, "For the Iranian nation, such resolutions count for nothing".

He said those who are in possession of A-bombs themselves and use their nukes to threaten other nations are issuing sanctions resolutions against Iran one after the other under the pretext that Tehran might develop nuclear weapons in the future.

ISNA quoted president Ahmadinejad as saying, "They are not able to deal a blow to the Iranian nation."

"The realm of politics has become one of deception, aggression and expansionism", Ahmadinejad, who is currently in Tajikistan added.
