SIPRI: US Takes Part As #1 Military Spender
The US military spending has scored a high record last year, according to a report published by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
A total of 1,531 billion dollars was spent worldwide in the military sector for the year 2009. SIPRI reported a 5.9% increase since the year 2008, in addition to a 49% soar from the year 2000.
So far, the US takes part as the top military spender, where in 2009, it dished out 661 billion dollars to the industry, or an enormous 43% of the total worldwide military spending.
The SIPRI report stated that Washington spent on its military 47 billion dollars more in 2009, than it did the year before.
The international institute also estimated that the 8 nuclear-armed states, including US, Russia, China, Britain, France, India, Pakistan and "Israel", have more than 8-thousand operating atomic arsenals, where 2 of them are kept at high alert, meaning that they could be launched any second.
The report estimated that the top global military spending were as follows: USA $661 billion, China $100 billion, France $64 billion, UK $58 billion, Russia $53 billion, Japan $52 billion, Germany $46 billion, Saudi Arabia $41 billion, India $36 billion and Italy $36 billion.
