International Official Reactions and Stances on "Israeli" Attack of Freedom Flotilla
As part of the international stances concerning the Freedom Flotilla convoy to Gaza, countries over the world issued statements mostly condemning the event.
On one side, China's UN representative said on behalf of the country, "China is shocked by "Israel's" attack on a multinational convoy carrying international aid to Gaza. We condemn "Israel's" actions targeting humanitarian workers and civilians and we support a quick response by the Security Council and take necessary actions".
As for the Brazilian reaction, it summoned the "Israeli" ambassador, and issued a statement saying, "Brazil strongly condemns the "Israeli" operation since there is no justification for military intervention against humanitarian missions".
As for the South American Countries of Cuba, Venezuela, and Argentina, they all condemned the attack.
Rodolfo Reyes Rodríguez, Cuban ambassador to the UN said, "Cuba empathically condemns the criminal attack conducted by the "Israeli" military". Cuba and Venezuela have clear views of their positions regarding "Israel", where Cuba broke its diplomatic relations with it years ago, and Venezuela broke the relations after the "Israeli" July 2006 aggression on Lebanon.
Likewise, India condemned the "Israeli" assaults saying, "There could not be any justification for such indiscriminate use of force".
In the same context, Russia denounced the "Israeli" naval attack against the Freedom Flotilla aid convoy demanding an end to the siege on Gaza. The Foreign Ministry in Russia expressed condemnation, also calling for investigation especially that the attack occurred in international waters.
France also denounced the attack saying that nothing can justify it.
As part of its support, Greece condemned the attack, also withdrew from joint military exercises with "Israel", and summoned the "Israeli" ambassador.
Spain, currently the European Union Presidency, said the attack was unacceptable and summoned the "Israeli" ambassador after the "Israeli" assault.
The "Israeli" diplomatic missions were summoned in each of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria, and Greece, in condemnation of the "Israeli" attack on Freedom Flotilla.
The European Union Foreign Policy Chief, Catherine Ashton demanded a full inquiry of the attack, saying that it was inacceptable, condemning the "Israeli" siege on Gaza.
Ireland's Foreign Minister, Micheal Martin said that the "Israeli" raids on the Freedom Flotilla were unacceptable, where Ireland also participated in organizing the ship convoy.
As for the United States of America, the President Barak Obama only regretted the loss of lives, saying that he is working to understand the "circumstance surrounding this strategy", yet did not reveal a clear stance of position regarding the attack.
Sometimes international statements and stances are not enough, nor is condemnation; people and international community should act and take power reactions in order to make a difference against "Israel's" constant violation aggressions.
