Jumblatt Warns Lebanese Not to Trust "Israeli" Assurances

Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt urged the Lebanese to beware of alleged "Israeli" assurances that the Zionist state is "seeking to ease tension."
"Whether this reassurance is serious or not, it is a duty to remain cautious at this stage, particularly that experience with "Israel" hasn't been encouraging," Jumblatt told As Safir daily in remarks published Saturday.
"We can never trust it (Israel)," he said. "Such caution calls for a quick and full coordination between the Lebanese government, the resistance and the army."
Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos told reporters in Beirut on Thursday that "Israeli" authorities asked him to convey a message to Syria and Lebanon that they seek to ease tension.
