Afghans Abused in US Secret Jail
British media reports say American forces have been abusing Afghan prisoners in a "secret jail" at the Bagram air base located north of the capital, Kabul.
The British Broadcasting Corporation says it has documented testimonies of nine witnesses, who say the human rights violations and abuses of prisoners have continued in the secret detention center at the Bagram air base even after US Barack Obama came to power with the promise of ending torture.
The US military has denied the existence of a secret prison at its Bagram base, that once home to hundreds of inmates - who were transferred to another facility.
However, the witnesses insist that the secret jail exists. "They call it the Black Hole," Sher Agha, who spent six days in the facility last autumn, was quoted by BBC as saying.
"When they released us they told us we should not tell our stories to outsiders because that will harm us."
The witnesses said they were subjected to beating, sleep deprivation and humiliation.
"There was a small camera in my cell, and if you were sleeping they'd come in and disturb you," said Mirwais, who said he was held in the secret jail for 24 days.
He added that the American soldiers would make him dance to music every time he wanted to use the toilet.
