Supreme Leader Stresses Iraq Support

TEHRAN--Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called the presence of occupation forces in Iraq and the lack of security there as the most significant problems in the country.
The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi president Jalal Talebani who is visiting Tehran in his fifth visit since he took office.
In the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed Iran`s support for Iraq`s current governing body including the president, prime minister, and the elected Iraqi parliament.
The Leader noted that those who oppose the popular government of Iraq, they are actually opposing the will of the Iraqi nation.
Ayatollah Khamenei added the US and British governments are leading this opposition and unfortunately some countries in the region are doing the same.
The Leader said the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to do what it can to establish security in Iraq, adding the US is opposed to expansion of Iran-Iraq relations and is doing its best to destroy these ties.
Referring to US and Zionist regime intelligent services as the main elements behind insecurity in Iraq, the Supreme Leader called on all Iraqi people, political and cultural elite in particular, to keep unity and solidarity to foil enemies conspiracies.
Ayatollah Khamenei also referred to US mischievous act of arming some terrorist groups in Iraq, saying that these measures will eventually result in US loss, as it was happened in the case of Afghanistan where they armed some groups.
In the case of US policy to sow discord in the region, particularly in the occupied territories of Palestine, the Leader noted that the situation in the occupied territories is rather painful.
