US-Cuban Relationship at its Lowest Point
Local Editor 01-04-2010
According to Cuban experts, since Barak Obama became the US President, the US-Cuban relations have reached their lowest point, and could become worse unless both sides take serious measures in making relations better.
In January 2009, Obama took office, expressing his will of wanting to recast the US-Cuban relations, where he worked on lifting restrictions on travel for Cuban Americans, who flooded their island creating the first high-level discussion in years between both states.
However, in December, Cuba imprisoned US citizen Alan Gross, on suspicion of spying, and still keeps him in without any charges. This has launched a very negative atmosphere between the countries, taking their relationship to the lowest point.
US officials believe that they have done good enough to receive a more positive response from Cuba, whereas Cuba finds that Obama and his administration have done too little
