21 Journalists Appear in Turkish Court

Local Editor

Twenty-one journalists were appearing in court Friday after being detained as part of a sweeping crackdown following Turkey’s July 15 failed military coup.

In parallel, the country’s Ministry of European Union Affairs suspended several staff.

The journalists are among 42 for whom detention orders were issued Monday.

Nearly 16,000 people have been detained over alleged links to the uprising.
