Red Cross Delivers Medical Aid to Taiz

The International Committee of the Red Cross [ICRC] said on Saturday it had entered the war-torn Yemeni city of Ta’az for the first time since August, delivering three tons of life-saving medical supplies to four hospitals treating the wounded.

Head of the ICRC delegation in Yemen, Antoine Grand, said in a statement: "This is a breakthrough and we hope that today’s operation will be followed by many more to come."

Ta’az is one of the worst fronts of the 10-month war, in which mercenaries loyal to the Saudi-backed government in the country, ousted by the Yemeni army and popular committees in March, are seeking to fight back to the capital Sanaa.
