A powerful 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck in Russia’s Far East Saturday morning, although there were no reports of any casualties.

The US Geological Survey said the quake occurred at 03:25 GMT at a depth of 160 kilometers, in the mountainous Kamchatka Krai region on Russia’s eastern coast.

Relatively, the quake struck in an area close to the "Ring of Fire," an arc of fault lines that circle the Pacific Ocean which is prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
