Marlene Pinnock, beaten by California Highway Patrol [CHP] officer Daniel Andrew in an incident caught on video, is to receive $1.5 million in compensation, The Associated Press reported on Thursday.
A session on the incident’s settlement held in Los Angeles on Wednesday also reportedly led to the offender’s resignation from law enforcement.
Pinnock was walking barefoot on the side of a freeway in California when Officer Andrew pulled her out while traveling in the opposite direction, triggering an active resistance by Pinnock. The video, uploaded to YouTube in July, shows Andrew punching the woman in the head with a clenched fist.
