Obama to Hold UNSC Summit on Foreign Fighters in Iraq

U.S. President Barack Obama plans to hold a Security Council Summit during the U.N. General Assembly high-level debate on September 24-27 to examine the issue of foreign fighters in Iraq and other parts of the Middle East region.
UNSC President British Ambassador Mark Lyall-Grant told reporters on Wednesday following an informal meeting by the Council that, "The United States briefed on the plans for President Obama to hold a Head of Government level meeting of the Security Council during the Ministerial week of UNGA on the issue of foreign fighters."
Asked on seized Gaza, Lyall-Grant said, "There are discussions going on between Council members, and there will be discussion of [seized] Gaza over the [monthly] lunch with the Secretary-General today. That was one of the topics that we will discuss."
