Late Night Suicide Attack Martyrs 31 in Baghdad

A late night suicide attack on Tuesday targeting a police checkpoint in Baghdad martyred 31 people, most of them civilians, Iraqi officials said.

Police officials said Wednesday that along with 31 martyred, the explosion also left at least 58 people wounded.

The bomber had rammed his explosives-packed car into a checkpoint in Baghdad’s northern neighborhood of Kazimiyah where people lined up in cars for security checks en route to a revered shrine during the holy month of Ramadan.
