New Law Eases Citizenship for Russian Speakers

Russian President Vladimir Putin approved legal amendments to make it easier for Russian speakers in the former Soviet Union to acquire Russian citizenship, the Kremlin said on Monday.

Putin signed a citizenship facilitation law on Monday, as the changes follow Russia’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula.
