Video Shows Al-Qaeda in Largest Gathering, No US Comments

The al-Qaeda terrorist group released a video of the largest known gathering of its members in years in Yemen, of which the US intelligence community declined to comment on, via a video shown on extremist websites on Tuesday.

US officials said that the video appeared to be both recent and authentic. The officials declined to say why there had been no US strike or whether US spy agencies were even aware of the gathering before the video emerged.

A CIA spokesman declined to comment.

Al-Qaeda’s second leader, Nasir al-Wuhayshi, who appeared without a mask in the video, issued a warning that said: "We must eliminate the cross...the bearer of the cross is America," as he declared to a crowd of more than 100 in Yemen.
