Lowering the voting age seemed to be the main headline of Thursday's parliamentary session...

However, and surprisingly, the session's agenda comprised a very suspicious and dangerous law proposal that the Lebanese Forces bloc sought to pass in the middle of the "electoral chaos"...

The LF, the group that has declared its refusal to lowering the voting age, submitted a different draft law that seeks to grant amnesty for all crimes committed prior to April 27, 2005 according to Lebanese daily As-Safir.

The main beneficiaries from this law, if approved, are the chief collaborator with ‘Israel' and head of the South Lebanese Army Antoine Lahd as well as LF second in command Ghassan Touma, and other notorious collaborators such as Etienne Saqr (Abu Arz).

Yet, Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra sought to justify the draft law, denying the existence of any ‘hidden snitches.' Zahra told Lebanese daily As-Safir that the proposal aims to grant amnesty to dozens of youth living abroad ‘who were convicted in unfair trials.'

The daily cited criticism within opposition circles over the draft law and its timing, wondering about the reasons that pushed the LF to call for amnesty for all crimes prior to 2005 and whether this includes traitors and collaborators and Mossad agents.
