Iran, Lebanon call for expansion of industrial cooperation

Tehran - Visiting Lebanese Minister of Industry Ghazi Zoayter and his entourage conferred on Saturday with Iran's Minister of Industries and Mines Ali-Akbar Mehrabian on expansion of economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries.

At the meeting, the Iranian minister said the current level of political relations between the two countries is very satisfactory and called for upgrading the level of economic and industrial cooperation in proportion with political relations.

Lebanon is a one of the most important countries in the Middle East region, he said adding that at the meeting, the two sides reviewed existing commonalties in different sectors and voiced readiness to help promote and bolster such economic and commercial ties mainly on industrial sectors.

Priority has given to joint industrial projects which play key role in reconstruction of Lebanon; Mehrabian said adding that Lebanon has called for construction of cement factory by Iranian experts which is under study.

The two sides discussed various topics as construction of interchangeable industries, manufacturing of tractors as well as other industrial products, he pointed out.

The current visit of the Lebanese delegation could be regarded as a turning point leading to deepening and expansion of mutual relations, said the Iranian minister.

The Lebanese industries minister, for his part, called for expansion of industrial and economic cooperation between the two countries and said Iran has successfully proved its scientific and technological capabilities in all fields which should be put at the disposal of Lebanon to implement joint projects.

The Lebanese delegation, which is visiting Iran on the invitation of Iranian minister of industries and mines, is to confer with a number of high ranking officials and inspect some industrial units in Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz.
