The Amal Movement and Hizbullah confirmed on Tuesday their full cooperation and coordination on all levels in preparing for the upcoming parliamentary elections, especially in South Lebanon.

In a joint statement issued following a general meeting of their leaderships in the South, the two national opposition parties said that they would consider the elections a referendum on their political agendas.

The statement said the two parties' political project was based on making Lebanon a country for all its citizens and one that valued justice and the law, as well as building institutions based on partnership and consensus. It also read that Amal and Hizbullah's project aimed to establish a strong state through its army, the Resistance and the unity of all its citizens in confronting "Israel".

Amal and Hizbullah noted that the "political money" spent on voters would not bear fruit, adding that it was an indicator of political incompetence. "This money would not make the people of South Lebanon change their minds, for they chose a long time ago what protected their country, dignity, identity and pride," the statement read.
