Larijani: Lebanon enjoys strategic position in region

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Tuesday that Lebanon enjoys a strategic position in the region and that Tehran attaches importance to ties with Beirut.
He made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, who arrived in Tehran on Monday at the head of a high-ranking political delegation.
Larijani expressing pleasure with the current level of political and economic cooperation between the two friendly countries.
He said that Tehran supports the existing solidarity among all Lebanese political parties in line with development and construction of their country.
Praising resistance of Lebanese nation to the "Israeli" atrocities in the past decades, he added that Lebanon will always enjoy spiritual support of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
President Suleiman said for his part that his current visit to Tehran is aimed at further expansion of ties between the two states.
Appreciating Iran's humanitarian aid for the Lebanese nation during its difficult time, he said the Lebanese people and government will never forget the Islamic Republic of Iran's valuable humanitarian support for their country.
He also lauded Iran's efforts to help establish tranquility and solidarity in his country.
