Syrian President Bashar al-Assad considered Wednesday that it is "premature" to talk about the possibility of Hezbollah's withdrawal from Syria.

Al-Assad: Premature To Talk of Hezbollah Withdrawal; US, French, Turks & “Israeli” Troops Occupying Forces

"Hezbollah is an essential element in this war and the battle is long and the need for these military forces will continue for a long time," al-Assad told Al-Alam TV network when asked whether Damascus has asked Hezbollah to pull its forces out of the country.

He added: "When Hezbollah, Iran or other forces consider that terrorism has been eradicated, they will tell us that they want to return to their country, because as the Sayyed [Hassan Nasrallah] said, they have families and daily interests and this is the normal thing but it is premature to talk about this issue."

Earlier on Friday, Hezbollah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah announced that the "entire world" cannot force the resistance to withdraw from Syria.

Elsewhere in his remarks, al-Assad denied the presence of any Iranian military bases in Syria, but noted that Damascus will not hesitate to allow them if there is a need.

He further expressed that it is not yet decided how the situation in Syria's militant-held southwest will be resolved.

"We are giving the political process a chance. If that doesn't succeed, we have no other option but to liberate it by force," he said.

In a related context, al-Assad stressed that the American, French, Turkish and "Israeli" troops present in Syria are occupying forces.

Syria's position is to support "any act of resistance, whether against terrorists or against occupying forces regardless of their nationality," he added.
