Popular Committees in Syria, in cooperation with local citizens, thwarted an attack launched by Nusra Front-linked terrorist groups on Sunday at dawn on the terrorist-besieged towns of al-Fouaa and Kefraya in Syria's Idlib northern countryside.
In further details, SANA reported that popular committees engaged in fierce clashes with Nusra Front terrorists who attempted to infiltrate from directions of the villages of Binnesh, Ram Hamdan and al-Sawaghiyeh on the outskirt of the besieged towns.
The infiltration attempt was thwarted; a number of terrorists were killed or injured and their weapons and equipment were destroyed, SANA added, while the rest of terrorists fled away towards the area from which they launched their attack.
The Siege of al-Fouaah and Kefraya is an ongoing siege in the Idlib Governorate. It was initiated with a militant assault on the capital of the province in March 2015, resulting in the capture of Idlib and the worst humanitarian crisis for the citizens of those towns in the history of the Syrian crisis.
