Authorities discovered the body of an elderly woman Wednesday morning inside a car in Beirut's Basta neighborhood, with around LL700 million ($458,500) in her possession.
Initial reports suggested that the woman was homeless, though authorities were reportedly examining bank statements found inside the car to determine whether she had any surviving relatives.
Pictures shared on social media showed bundles of cash inside black plastic bags and 3 bank passbooks and a savings account worth one billion and seven hundred million Lebanese pounds ($1129563).
The woman has been reported to have died of natural causes. It was not immediately clear how she came into possession of the large sum of money.
