Imam Khamenei Pardons, Commutes 715 Inmates on Imam Al-Mahdi’s Birth Anniversary

Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday either pardoned or commuted prison terms of 715 convicts sentenced in various Iranian courts.
The pardon was granted at the request of the country's Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani on the occasion of the Shaban Month happy days.
Twelver Shias commemorate the month; Shias' third, fourth, and twelfth imams, respectively Imam Hussein, his Son Imam Sajjad, and Imam al-Mahdi, and Imam Hussein's brother Abbas ibn Ali - Peace be upon them - were born in Shaban.
Article 110 of the Islamic Republic Constitution grants the Supreme Leader the right to pardon or reduce the sentences of convicts upon a recommendation from the head of the Judiciary.
