MP Ali Khreis of the Development and Liberation bloc confirmed bloc leader and Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri's commitment to the Doha Agreement. Discussions today, he continued, centered on "details and portfolios" that were of significant importance to the interests of the people.
Khreis on Thursday said he regretted the interpretation of the government formation as a prelude to the 2009 parliamentary elections. "It is as though a certain party will get a certain ministry to improve their standing in a certain region they will be running in," he noted.
Khreis pointed out the elections are set to be held seven months after the government formation and emphasized that any delay in the formation would have negative repercussions on all Lebanese factions.
