Bahrainis were back on the streets on Wednesday night as protests continue to rage over the harsh verdicts issued by Manama's courts this week.

Bahrainis Protest Recent Harsh Court Verdicts

Protests were reported on Sitra Island, the northeastern village of Ma'ameer as well as the Manama suburb of Bilad al-Qadim.

The peaceful marches were quickly interrupted by the country's security forces who lobbed teargas canisters in a bid to disperse the crowds.

Some of the protesters held up posters of the six men sentenced to death by the kingdom's top military court on Monday. Demonstrators also condemned a separate verdict on Wednesday, which saw 10 men sentenced to life in prison.

In both cases, the defendants were found guilty of terror-related offenses and stripped of their citizenship. Allegations that the defendants were subjected to torture, extended periods of arbitrary detention, and enforced disappearance, were completely ignored by the courts.
