Protests Erupt in Turkey & Jordan in Wake of Trump’s Al-Quds Move
Local Editor

After US President Donald Trump blatantly recognized the occupied Palestinian city of al-Quds as the capital of the Zionist entity, protests erupted across the region namely in Turkey and Jordan.

Turkey

Despite warnings from Arab, Muslim and Western allies, Trump instructed his State Department to begin the process of moving the American embassy from Tel Aviv to the holy city.

Thousands of people across Turkey took to the streets to protest the decision.

Several NGOs and civil society groups, including the Anatolian Youth Association [AGD] and Turkish Youth Foundation [TUGVA], gathered city centers in every corner of the country to protest the move.

Many NGOs led by the AGD Istanbul branch staged a demonstration at the US Consulate General in Istanbul and chanted slogans against Trump and the US and carried posters and banners supporting the Palestinians.

Similar protests were also held in almost every Turkish province.

Meanwhile, protests broke out on Wednesday in areas of Jordan's capital Amman inhabited by Palestinian refugees.

Youths chanted anti-American slogans in Amman, while in the Baqaa refugee camp on the city's outskirts, hundreds of youths roamed the streets denouncing Trump and calling on Jordan's government to scrap its 1994 ‘peace' treaty with ‘Israel.' "Down with America... America is the mother of terror," they chanted.
