MP Ali Bazzi of the Liberation and Development bloc questioned whose interests delaying the cabinet formation served after "the hope that was born after the Doha agreement and the election of consensus President General Michel Suleiman."

"The answer is obvious," he added.

The MP called on the pro-government alliance to refrain from throwing accusations at the opposition regarding the distribution of ministerial portfolios. "The opposition has acted positively to facilitate the formation of the government from the very start. The problem is not at all in the opposition. It is in another place, and they know that."

Bazzi said that all political parties were governed by the Doha agreement as a whole to ensure "a stable political environment... that reflects the atmosphere of unity, harmony, prosperity, partnership and civil peace."

Bazzi said the opposition, like the Lebanese people, was looking forward to resolving the cabinet issue quickly. "There are concerns and fears and questions. To remove these concerns, allay fears and answer the questions we must speed up forming the government according to the distribution approved in the Doha agreement," he concluded.
