Qassemi: Iran Does Not Interfere In Lebanon
Local Editor

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi stressed Monday that Iran does not interfere in Lebanese affairs, and that Prime Minister Saad Hariri's comments in an interview over the weekend suggest he might return to Lebanon.

Qassemi

"Hariri's remarks on Sunday gave a little hope of the possibility of his return to Lebanon," Iranian state TV quoted Qassemi as saying.

Qassemi's comments came as the Iraqi Foreign Ministry announced that Baghdad was in contact with Lebanon and Saudi Arabia in an effort to deal with the crisis engendered by Hariri's shock resignation announcement, made from Riyadh on Nov. 4.

Hariri Sunday gave his first publically broadcast interview since his resignation address.
