Lebanese President Michel Anoun stressed Monday that "political leaders' response to calls for calm after [Lebanese Prime Minister Saad] Hariri's resignation is to strengthen security and national unity."

During the security meeting that Aoun headed in Baabda Palace, the President stressed that "security, political and economic stability is a red line in Lebanon."

According to Justice Minister Salim Jraisati, Aoun asserted that he "will not take any decision until he is allowed to hear the circumstances of resignation from Prime Minister Saad Hariri."

While he stressed that meetings with the leaders of the security and judicial services are open, Jraisati pointed out that "the security leaders submitted their security reports in line with the announcement of Hariri's resignation from abroad and did not record any unusual security incident."

He once again denied that the Lebanese security services were aware of the existence of any assassination attempt prepared in Lebanon.
