Yemen Unveils New Asif -1 Missile

Yemeni soldiers and their allies fired three short-range Asif-1 missiles toward Rajla military base in Saudi Arabia's southwestern border region of Najran, located about 844 kilometers [524 miles] south of the capital, Riyadh, on Tuesday evening, Arabic-language Ansarullah website reported.

There were no immediate reports on casualty numbers in the attack.

Separately, 2 Saudi-paid mercenaries were killed in Serwah district of Mareb province on Tuesday, a military official told the state-run news agency Saba.

The official added that the Yemeni army and popular forces destroyed a military vehicle in the military clashes in the east of al-Matar hill in Serwah.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Ansarullah revolutionary movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 12,000 people had been martyred and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression had also taken a heavy toll on Yemen's facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces had been engaged in retaliatory operations against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
