RAMALLAH- The minority of Palestinians believe that 'Israel' will agree and stick to a ceasefire with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, a new public opinion poll showed.
According to the poll, which involved 1300 people aged more than 18 years old, only 10.4 percent of the surveyed people believed that 'Israel' will abide by the lull that Egypt is trying to achieve.
The survey, made by al-Najah University between May 15 and May 17, included 800 people in the Gaza Strip and 500 people in the West Bank. Its margin of error was plus or minus 3 percent.
Hamas and the Palestinian factions have accepted the Egyptian lull initiative and now are waiting to hear from Egypt about the 'Israeli' response.
As for the elections, 80.7 percent of the surveyed said they will participate in the next parliamentary elections, and 40.6 percent of them will vote for Fatah and 20 percent will vote for Hamas.
Meanwhile, 36.3 percent of the sample believed that President Abbas will succeed in creating a Palestinian statehood via negotiations, while 41.2 percent said they will be able to establish the statehood on the territories which were occupied by 'Israel' in 1967.
