Two "Israeli" police officers and a Palestinian were wounded on Monday morning in occupied East al-Quds [Jerusalem] after the Palestinian reportedly carried out a stabbing operation against the "Israeli" security forces.

"Israeli" police spokeswoman Luba al-Samri said in a statement that a Palestinian resident from East al-Quds pulled out a knife and stabbed an "Israeli" policeman and policewoman near a police station on Salah al-Din street just north of the Old City, injuring them in the upper extremities.

The policeman fired several rounds at the Palestinian youth, injuring him critically, al-Samri said.

"Israeli" media identified the Palestinian as Ayman al-Kurd, 20, from the Ras al-Amoud neighborhood of East al-Quds.

A spokesperson for the Hadassah hospital said that the Palestinian man was in a serious and unstable condition after being shot.

The 47-year-old male police officer, who was being treated at the same hospital, was conscious after sustaining moderate stabbing injuries in the upper back, the spokesperson added.

A spokesperson for the Shaare Zedek hospital said that the female officer, who they said was 38 years old, was in the operating room and "severely injured."

Since a wave of unrest erupted across the "Israeli"-annexed Palestinian territories almost a year ago, a number of Palestinians had been martyred or wounded while allegedly carrying out or attempting to carry out stabbing operations on "Israeli" security forces and illegal settlers.

227 Palestinians had been martyred by "Israelis" since October, with rights groups denouncing the "Israel" Occupation Forces' "shoot-to-kill" policy against Palestinians who did not constitute a threat at the time of their death or who could have been subdued in a non-lethal manner.
