Lebanese Southerners Friday entered the "Israeli"-occupied Shebaa Farms to raise their country's flag in protest of the construction of a road in the area for use by the "Israeli" occupation military.

UN peacekeepers stationed along the border and the Lebanese and "Israeli" militaries went on high alert as the demonstrators crossed into the occupied territory.

Around 500 Zionist troops deployed to an area about 3 kilometers away from the protesters, who raised a Lebanese flag on a barbed-wire fence. Snipers could be seen positioned between trees.
Armored "Israeli" vehicles and a tank were also deployed near the protest.

"Israel" has been constructing an almost 2 kilometer-long road between the Blue Line, the internationally recognized border between the two sides, and "Israel's" so-called "technical fence," erected south of the divide.

Shebaa MP Qassem Hashem told media from the protest site that ""Israelis" are doing whatever they want under the eyes of people and the world. They have been bulldozing inside the occupied lands and no one has budged an inch."

Mohammad Bassam, who lifted the Lebanese flag, said that he doesn't fear death, daring "Israeli" soldiers "to approach the protesters."

"Israeli" forces Tuesday halted work on the route in the occupied land after a bulldozer collided with a military vehicle, causing several injuries.

Work on the route had been ongoing for three days before the accident.

In June last year, a similar incident occurred when protesters raised a Lebanese flag on a barbed-wire fence to protest the construction of a new military road in the occupied territory.
