'Israeli' media said that an occupation army force was ambushed east of the Bureij Refugee camp east of Gaza. According to 'Israeli' television, the attack inflicted heavy casualties in the force's ranks.
Earlier, the 'Israeli' army admitted that occupation soldiers were killed on Wednesday and six others wounded in heavy clashes with Palestinian resistance fighters east of the Gaza Strip.
During the early hours of Wednesday morning, four Hamas resistance fighters were martyred during heavy exchanges of fire with 'Israeli' occupation forces in central Gaza. The 'Israeli' army said that its troops entered the central Gaza Strip early Wednesday in a routine operation to target resistance fighters launching rockets.
The 'Israeli' army spokesman says that troops exchanged fire with Hamas fighters at several points. At approximately 2 a.m. a Givati Brigade force opened fire at a number of Palestinian fighters in north Gaza and identified hits.
Earlier Palestinian sources in the Strip said that a senior member of Islamic Jihad's military wing, Abdullah al-Rasin, was martyred and two others were wounded after an 'Israeli' aircraft fired at them in the Jabalya refugee camp. The three were walking on the street when they were attacked.
The occupation army confirmed the strike and said that it was carried out in conjunction with the Shin Bet security service.
Around midnight, Palestinian sources reported that one person was martyred and several others were injured in another Air Force strike, this time in a Gaza City neighborhood. A few minutes later, the Palestinians reported another strike in the same area. A fourth strike was reported at around 12:40 am. The sources also reported that 'Israeli' army tanks were advancing to the area.
Also Tuesday night, Gaza sources reported that the 'Israeli' army attacked Palestinian lookouts in the northern Gaza Strip. According to initial reports, three Palestinians were hurt in the attack.
'Israeli' occupation troops have been operating near Khan Younis since morning hours and have detained several Palestinians who were subsequently taken in for interrogation. Palestinian groups, and mostly Hamas' military wing, fired mortar shells and automatic gunfire at the occupation forces.
Hamas said its men blew up a tunnel near an 'Israeli' force adding that an RPG shell directly hit an 'Israeli' force in one of the homes in the area.
The 'Israeli' army said the current operation is relatively broad but noted that its scope is limited.
Meanwhile, neighborhoods in the western part of Gaza City and the northern Strip plunged into darkness Tuesday evening, after the Palestinian electrical company cut off the power supply due to a reported fuel shortage. The electrical company is expected to initiate additional power interruptions in other neighborhoods across the Strip.
