American warplanes struck an "ISIS" camp in Libya early Friday, targeting a senior Tunisian operative linked to two major terrorist attacks in Tunisia last year, according to media reports.

The airstrike, on a camp near Sabratha west of Tripoli, also killed more than 30 "ISIS" recruits at the site, many of whom were believed to be from Tunisia.

Meanwhile, intelligence officials were trying to determine whether the operative, Noureddine Chouchane, was killed in the strike.

Relatively, Chouchane was a major facilitator for the terrorist group and had been linked to two major attacks in Tunisia last year: one in March that killed 22 people in an attack on the National Bardo Museum in Tunis and the other in June that killed 38 people at a beach in the coastal resort in Sousse, south of the capital.

In a similar context, the foreign news media office in Tripoli stated that the airstrikes also targeted a farmhouse about six to nine miles outside Sabratha that had been seized by "ISIS" terrorists.

In recent months, American and British Special Operations teams increased secret investigation missions in Libya to identify the militant leaders and map out their networks for possible strikes.
