Meanwhile, the Iraqi Joint Forces Command announced in a statement on Friday that they managed to establish complete control over the al-Sijariyah district, east of Anbar's provincial capital city of Ramadi.

The statement added that Iraqi forces also killed a large number of "ISIS" terrorists during the liberation operation, and dismantled dozens of improvised explosive devices planted by the Takfiri groups.

Additionally, the army's artillery units pounded militant positions in the villages of Duwailiya, al-Ghoraf and Jazeera al-Jubbah, located on the outskirts of the western city of Khan al-Baghdadi, killing at least 17 "ISIS" terrorists.

For his part, Jabbar Ma'amouri, commander of the Popular Mobilization units, noted that Iraqi fighter jets also thwarted an "ISIS" offensive against the oil-rich region of Haqoul al-Alas in the northern province of Salahuddin.

Elsewhere in the city of Fallujah, located roughly 69 kilometers west of the capital, Baghdad, at least 32 "ISIS" terrorists were killed when a car rigged with explosives went off inside a bomb-making workshop.

Violence has plagued northern and western parts of Iraq ever since "ISIS" militants launched an offensive in the country in June 2014, occupying portions of the Iraqi territory.

Terrorists have committed various crimes against all ethnic and religious communities in Iraq.
