DAMASCUS-Arab scholars participating in a conference on "Iran's Peaceful Nuclear Program" in Syria have hailed the Islamic Republic's nuclear achievements as a "success" for whole of the Islamic and Arab world.
According to Alalam correspondent in Damascus, the participants announced that "despite the US and 'Israeli' regime conspiracies, Muslims are capable to attain great scientific achievements".
The conference also called on all Arab countries to support Iran and to exercise resistance in face of the US and the "Israeli" regime's pressures against the regional countries.
Speaking to Alalam on the sideline of the conference, Abdullah al-Hasan, the managing director of the "Fatah" magazine said: "Iran's achievements in the field of nuclear technology are a great success for the country which can also be a source of pride for the Islamic and Arab countries."
Alalam correspondent also quoted some scholars as saying that "the US hostility towards the Islamic Republic has its roots in the history and not the nuclear activities of the country".
"The US' hostility towards Iran has started since it realized that the Islamic Revolution defends the Palestinian nation's rights and stands to the bullies, so when the US understood that Iran was threatening the Zionist regime and its own interests in the region, it increased its animosity towards the country," Alalam quoted the participants as saying.
Hossein Jomeh, the Head of Arab Writers Union in Syria, also told Alalam: "The Islamic Republic took a lot of steps to make the country independent in the field of nuclear energy in a bid to flourish its agricultural and industrial sources but the US is making much more efforts to prevent the country form attaining such technology".
The conference also stressed the reality of Iran's peaceful nuclear program, calling on all Muslims to defend it.
The Damascus conference also discussed the IAEA's report on Iran's peaceful nuclear program, "Israeli" regime's nukes, and the US double standards towards the world's issues.
