Lebanon's Defense Minister Samir Moqbel is expected to discuss an Iranian aid package to the Lebanese Army during this week's Cabinet session, as top officials in Iran vowed continued support on Sunday to Lebanon's people, Army and resistance.

Iran Vows to Assist Lebanese Army, People, Resistance
"Besides arms aid to the Lebanese Army, the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to transfer its experience to improve security in Lebanon and the region, and fight terrorism," Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council [SNSC] Ali Shamkhani told Moqbel in the Iranian capital of Tehran.

"Supporting the Lebanese nation, Army and resistance will still remain on Iran's agenda," he added.

During his trip to Lebanon last month [September], Shamkhani had announced that Iran would provide Lebanon with needed military aid.

For his part, Moqbel said in addition to the old enemy which is the Zionist regime, a new enemy has been formed in the region under the name of Takfiri terrorist groups.

All Lebanese tribes and political wings are united to back the country's army in the fight with terrorist groups and the Lebanese army is now in suitable combat readiness, he said.

"We are determined to maintain the security of our borders and fight with terrorist groups and ready to restore law and order in Lebanon. They have been materialized thanks to the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran," he said.

Moreover, Moqbel also held talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Defense Minister Hussein Dehqan.

Rouhani said his country would support the peoples of Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, and others who are fighting terrorism.

He hoped that the Lebanese people, with all their sects, would be vigilant and "united in the face of enemies seeking to harm the country's territorial integrity."

Praising the brave resistance of the Lebanese nation to thwart the invasion of the Zionist regime, he said that fortunately the brave resistance of Lebanese people has disappointed Zionists and made them dubious and undecided for the new round of invasion.

Furthermore, he expressed the hope that the vigilance and awareness of Lebanese nation, irrespective of Muslim, Christians, Shiites or Sunnis along with ethnics and tribes would defend the country's territorial integrity.

He also expressed concern about certain governments support for the terror groups and said that it is a grave mistake committed by some countries in the region along with some Western states.

They should bear in mind that a terrorist group could not be means to influence in the region, he said.

All should congratulate the Lebanese army for its forceful resistance to Takfiri and terrorist groups, underlined Rouhani.

The Lebanese nation has attained remarkable achievements in recent years and are known as a nation to thwart aggressions of aliens, he said.

He spoke during a meeting with Moqbel, who is currently on a three-day visit to Iran to discuss the pledged Iranian military grant to the Lebanese Army.

Echoing Shamkhani, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif voiced Tehran's readiness to provide modern military equipment and strategic assistance to the Lebanese Army "to enable it to gain an upper hand in its fight against terrorism."

Meanwhile, ministerial sources said Moqbel was expected to brief the Lebanese government about his talks in Tehran.
