Iran's President Hassan Rouhani called Western sanctions an "invasion" on Saturday after Washington imposed new penalties on 25 businesses, banks and individuals.

Rouhani Condemns New U.S. Sanctions: Sanctions Are an ‘Invasion’ Rouhani told officials in broadcasted emarks: "Sanctions are an invasion of the Iranian nation. We should resist the invasion and put the invaders in their place," adding further that, "We should not allow the continuation and repetition of the invasion."

Additional sanctions contradict an interim agreement reached by Iran and the P5+1 group of world powers, Iran's state TV said.
The deal includes Iran curbing its nuclear activities in exchange for lifting some of its sanctions.

The United States on Friday imposed existing sanctions on more than 25 businesses, banks and individuals. The move bars Americans from engaging in transactions with any of the designated parties, freezes their assets and blocks their property under U.S. jurisdiction.

Iran and the P5+1 group of world powers - the U.S., Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany - have been working to reach a comprehensive nuclear agreement by November that would address Western concerns about Iran's nuclear program and lift crippling international sanctions on Tehran.
