Sheikh Qabalan: To Neutralize Muslim Blood, Preserve Religious Diversity

Lebanon's Grand Jaafarite Shiite Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan congratulated Muslims on the coming of ed al-Fitr Tuesday. In a cermon he delivered following the prayers, he called on all Shiite and Sunni religious authorities in the Muslim world to quickly take the initiative "to neutralize the blood of Muslims."
"We should criminalize what should be criminalized and ban what should be banned. We should put pressure on oppressive regimes and take to the streets to awaken people so that they would revolt on governments that feed into ISIS."
He also stressed that Muslims work tirelessly to maintain religious diversity, including a Christian presence, urging regional Muslim institutions to combat radical groups.
"We insist on preserving religious diversity within our eastern society, particularly Christians, and we work with all our might to protect it," Qabalan said.
"But there is a dollar-oil alliance working on serving a blow to the sectarian balance in favor of radical, Takfiri, Zionist and geostrategic goals, which would preserve interests of Washington and Tel Aviv," he said, adding "Beware of this regional plot because it aims to eliminate religions with religions."
