German Airlines Cancel More Tel Aviv Flights Despite Lift on Flying

Germany's two largest airlines said they are not yet resuming flights to "Israel" even though the European Aviation Safety Agency has lifted a recommendation that airlines refrain from flying to Tel Aviv airport.

Air Berlin said flights to Tel Aviv remain suspended at least through midday Friday, while Lufthansa said all Friday flights to the airport have been canceled because of ongoing security concerns.

The Lufthansa airline said it "acknowledges the considerable efforts made by "Israel" to provide the best possible protection for Ben Gurion Airport."
It said flights will resume "as soon as this protection can be verifiably guaranteed."

Lufthansa's cancellations apply to subsidiaries Germanwings, Austrian Airlines, Swiss and Brussels Airlines as well.
