The Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said Wednesday that Iran should continue talks with world powers to end a long-running nuclear dispute, but without ceding any of the gains made by its nuclear program.

Imam Khamenei: Iran’s Negotiators Should Not Yield to Pressure, Nuclear Activities Unstoppable

"Iran's negotiators should not yield to issues forced upon them", Imam Khamenei stated in a meeting with nuclear scientists in Tehran marking the National Nuclear Technology Day, the official IRNA news agency reported.

"Everybody should know that although negotiations [between Iran and world powers] are going on, the Islamic Republic of Iran's activities in the field of nuclear research and development will never stop and none of Iran's nuclear achievements will be shut down.

Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency's relations with Iran must be conventional relations, not extraordinary," his eminence accentuated, adding that Washington knew well that the Islamic Republic was not seeking a nuclear weapon.

Iran had agreed to negotiate an end to the dispute "to break the hostile climate created by the arrogant powers against Iran", he went on to say.

The Leader said it has been proven that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons but every time US officials talk about the nuclear issue, they always raise the issue of nuclear weapons directly or indirectly.

"This is while they [US officials] know that not having nuclear weapons is the definite policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran," Imam Khamenei noted, adding, "Of course, negotiations do not mean the Islamic Republic of Iran will give up its scientific nuclear endeavor."

The Imam spoke as negotiators from Iran and the so-called P5+1 [US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany] met for the second of two days of talks in Vienna aimed at clearing the way for a long-term accord on curbing Tehran's nuclear program.
