Russia Slams Acts of Deception: Alleged Chemical Rocket Launched by Rebels

Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that the allegations of chemical weapons use by the Syrian authorities in Damascus countryside maybe an act of deception that was prepared for in advance.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said that its sources in Syria said that a homemade rocket carrying unidentified chemical substances had been launched from an area controlled by the opposition.
"All this cannot but suggest that once again we are dealing with a pre-planned provocation," Lukashevich said in a statement.

In parallel, he mentioned that "this is supported by the fact that the criminal act was committed near Damascus at the very moment when a mission of UN experts had successfully started their work of investigating allegations of the possible use of chemical weapons there."
"Biased regional media outlets immediately started an aggressive media attack blaming full responsibility on the Syrian government," Lukashevich stated, and pointed out that "it is not a coincidence that these allegations and this aggressive media attack started with the beginning of the UN experts mission."

For his part, First deputy chairman of the State Duma International Affairs Committee Leonid Kalashnikov stressed that the allegations on chemical weapons use by the Syrian government in Damascus countryside are "another act of deception orchestrated by the terrorists and their supporters."

In a statement, Kalashnikov said, "I do not trust these recent misleading leaks, and if chemical weapons were really used, the armed terrorist groups are responsible for that."
