Internal Security Forces cybercrime and intellectual property unit warned from a virus affecting mobile phones and computers, which has been spreading across Lebanon lately. Hackers are using the "Metropolitan Police Virus" to obtain the credit card's balance when user enters the personal code of Cash U.

The virus locks the computer and all its applications, "whenever you try to log on into your Windows operating system or Safe Mode with Networking, it will display instead a lock screen asking you to pay a non-existing fine of $200 in the form of a Cash U code."

It is worth noting that the ISF have called on the Lebanese people not to pay any fine via credit card, and to resort to the cybercrime and intellectual property unit should any violation occur.
