Former US Army Veteran Eric Harroun, 30, was arrested on grounds of fighting alongside al-Nusra Front of al-Qaeda in Syria.

The former US soldier had posted his pictures on his Facebook account with a Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG), bragging his affiliation with an extremist group the US itself listed as a terrorist organization affiliated to al-Qaeda.
He also appeared in online videos threatening Syria's President Bashad al-Assad along with his seemingly insurgent comrades.

Eric Harroun served in the Army from 2000 to 2003, and was arrested on Wednesday when returning to the US from Turkey.
Harrounn had caught up with al-Nusra and participated in several battles against the Syrian regime.

In an interview with Fox News earlier this month, Harroun stated that he was welcomed by al-Nusra.
"Getting into al-Nusra is not rocket science," he noted.

The criminal complaint against Harroun says federal officials believe they have probable cause to believe Harroun "conspired to use a weapon of mass destruction."
